First Tryout of the Year (TrojanMUN + SBIMUN)

When: Saturday, October 4, from 11am-3pm

What: First Tryout of the Year

Where: TBA via Email

  • This is a tryout for two conferences MUN at UCLA will attend in Fall Quarter: TrojanMUN, USC’s conference in Downtown LA, takes place from Oct 23 - Oct 26, 2025 (i.e Week 4 of Fall Quarter); SBIMUN, UCSB’s conference in Santa Barbara, takes place from Nov 13 - Nov 16, 2025 i.e. Week 7 of Fall Quarter).

  • Both TrojanMUN and SBIMUN are suitable for novice delegates, even if you have no experience in Model UN.

  • If you are interested in tryouts but want to know the procedure and other information, we are hosting two MUN101 sessions to teach you, one on Tuesday, Sept 30 on Zoom, and one in-person an hour before the tryout itself. If you are interested in the former, please join our slack. More information is available at uclamun.org/joinslack.

  • For those who do not wish to try out, participating still provides a platform to gain experience writing and debating in a welcoming environment.

  • More information regarding the tryout will be emailed to applicants on a rolling basis once you sign up.

  • If you are unable to attend the entirety of tryouts, you may indicate this on the form below and be eligible to schedule a make-up tryout. Please note that you may be asked to provide proof as to why you cannot attend tryouts.

  • Travel Team members will be required to attend weekly trainings on Tuesday during fall quarter leading up to each conference.

As a reminder, MUN at UCLA covers most travel and hotel costs for our delegates. Additionally, all members are trained and mentored by our head delegates. We want everyone to be prepared and comfortable when representing UCLA at national and international competitions.

Please feel free to contact Hadia at travel@uclamun.org, Madeline at training@uclamun.org, Anton at president@uclamun.org, or Joey at strategy@uclamun.org with any questions or concerns you might have.

COVID-19 Policies
