LAMUN XIX

Esteemed Delegates and Advisors,

It is with distinct honor and pleasure that I welcome you all to LAMUN XIX! LAMUN XIX is UCLA’s 19th iteration of the Los Angeles Model United Nations conference. We are excited to once again be at the Hilton Universal City Hotel from Thursday, April 11th to Sunday April 14th. My name is Raghu Kommalapaty and I will be serving as the Secretary-General of LAMUN XIX. I would firstly like to thank our staff and Secretariat for all the grueling hours and long nights that they have dedicated to ensuring that we can prepare intriguing and unique committees so you all can focus on diplomacy and having a great experience. And of course, I would like to thank every single school that has been attending previous installments of LAMUN and we truly appreciate your continued support. And for any school that is new or has not been able to attend our recent LAMUNs, I would like to be the first to extend a warm welcome and hope that LAMUN XIX blows you away!

LAMUN XIX is proud to present nine crisis committees and five general assemblies and specialized bodies. We strive to pick topics that are accessible and have a breadth of information but are yet niche and sparks an excitement within our delegates. On top of this, we take pride that we cover a diverse range of locations and time periods to ensure that all delegates find a topic that they cannot wait to research and talk about.

My hope is that by the end of closing ceremonies on Sunday, you all have not only had fruitful debate but have also made friends and memories that will last for years to come. Diplomacy, working together, and compromise are traits that drive us at LAMUN and has helped us gain a reputation as one of the most gratifying and enjoyable conferences on the circuit. We plan to uphold these values and I hope we exceed all of your expectations!
